Box Champions: Empowering Young People
We proudly partner with national boxing charity, Empire Fighting Chance to deliver their renowned Box Champions programme. Through this collaboration we deliver a vibrant youth diversion programme aimed at empowering individuals aged 10 upwards to make positive changes in their lives. By integrating non-contact boxing training with psychology-informed mentoring, Box Champions provides impactful and enjoyable sessions that foster personal growth and resilience among young participants.
The Programme
Box Champions integrates various elements of non-contact boxing training, including pad work, shadow boxing drills, punchbag workouts, circuit training, and skipping, structured into three-minute rounds. Our coaches engage in mentoring sessions with participants during one-minute rest periods, fostering trust, and building rapport.
Participants learn evidence-based personal development principles, gaining insights into the workings of the mind and normalising a range of emotions. This equips them with essential skills to manage emotions, behaviours, and challenging situations effectively.
Personal Development Principles
Our coaches integrate various personal development principles into the Box Champions programme to guide and support participants on their journey of growth. Some examples of these principles include:
Go with the Flow: Rather than fighting against negative emotions, participants are encouraged to acknowledge and accept them, allowing their minds to return to a clear and healthy state.
Feel the Fear: To overcome difficult feelings, individuals are encouraged to confront them rather than avoiding or running from them.
Action, Not Outcome: Participants learn to break down seemingly overwhelming goals into smaller, more manageable actions or targets that are within their control.
