Their Journeys
Behind every statistic are real, inspiring stories. Through our programmes, we provide these young individuals with the skills, knowledge, and inspiration needed to make positive changes in their lives. Our inclusive space where everyone feels valued and supported and ensures that all participants can engage, grow and thrive in our community and beyond.
We proudly share the stories of these individuals, who have been challenged and inspired to transform their lives through boxing.
Their journeys highlight the resilience and impact of our work.
Frankie’s Transformation:
A Journey of Growth and Connection
When Frankie first joined Bletchley Boxing Community Hub, his shyness and complex needs presented unique challenges. Coach Sadie recalls, “Initially, Frankie was very reluctant to engage, which was understandable given the new and intense environment of the boxing gym.” Through patience and personalised coaching strategies, Sadie has helped Frankie remarkably improve in areas critical for his personal development: confidence, social interaction, concentration, and overall engagement.
Profound Improvements and Newfound Confidence
In just 20 weeks, Frankie has made incredible strides. “His ability to interact socially and adapt to various situations has dramatically enhanced,” Sadie notes. For instance, Frankie has learned to work comfortably alongside other young people and coaches, a situation he previously found daunting. “It’s been inspiring to see him communicate freely and respect different coaches during sessions, showcasing his growing confidence and adaptability,” she adds.
Emotional Growth and Resilience
Frankie has also developed significant emotional control, learning to channel his energy into productive activities when feeling frustrated. Sadie proudly mentions, “Frankie now knows what to do to feel better, whether it’s hitting the pads, the bags, or simply jogging around the gym.”

A Parent’s Perspective: Transformation Through Connection
Frankie’s father, Daren, shares the profound impact Bletchley Boxing has had on his son. “Frankie has complex needs, including autism, ADHD, and Tourette Syndrome. Before joining the club, engaging him was incredibly challenging,” Darren explains. Since starting boxing, Frankie has become interactive and enthusiastic about his sessions. “Seeing his relationship with Sadie and how it has fostered his growth is heartwarming. It’s something I hadn’t seen in all his 14 years,” Daren expresses.
Frankie’s Own Words
From Frankie’s perspective, the boxing club is more than just a place to exercise; it’s a community where he is valued and accepted. “I like coming to boxing because everyone likes me just the way I am. I love training with Sadie; she is my best friend there, and she can calm me down if I am feeling mad or sad,” he shares.
